description

Jefferson County Tourism Group is the event planner for the 2017 OregonSolarFest.   On August 21st, 2017 at approximately 10:19 a.m., the moon will pass in front of the sun casting the small Central Oregon town of Madras into complete darkness for over two minutes.

Labeled “The Great American Eclipse” and “The National Eclipse, the worlds greatest natural phenomenon will be the first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in America since 1918.  Entering Oregon and exiting in South Carolina, most of the Continental United States will be able to partially see the 2017 eclipse.   However, to fully experience total darkness  you must be within a 67 mile band of the shadow.

Celebrate the countdown to TOTALITY at Oregon Solarfest, a four day festival on the path of TOTALITY.   Enjoy your mini vacation with family friendly camping, global food tastes, craft beer, local spirits and shopping delivered on the stunning Central Oregon landscape.

Join NASA scientists from Goddard Space Center in hands on activities for kids of all ages, at the center line of Totality in Madras, Oregon and experience the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse.

Jefferson County Tourism Group is dedicated to the promotion and economic development of Jefferson County Oregon through tourism.
