PROPERTY FEATURES & amenities
Hoodoo Ski Area, located atop Santiam Pass, is just 45 miles west of Bend, 85 miles east of Eugene and 130 miles southeast of Portland. Hoodoo was known as Hoodoo Ski Bowl when it was built in 1938 by a group headed by Eugene-area mill owner Ed Thurston. Operations began with only one tow rope in the “bowl” at the base of a cinder cone named Hoodoo Butte. Since that time Hoodoo has been owned and operated under two different development companies, undergone upgrades and an expansion and was renamed Hoodoo Ski Area. This family-friendly ski area is convenient to both sides of the Cascade Range and features more than 800 acres of terrain, 32 runs, five lifts, miles of cross country and snow shoe trails and The Autobahn, one of the largest tubing parks in the West. The ski area also offers half-hour lessons teaching the basics of snow biking, an extreme sport in which participants ride small bikes with seats, handlebars and small skis instead of wheels. Hoodoo has a 60,000-square-foot lodge which houses a ski school, equipment rentals and a full-service restaurant on the first-level where guests can get breakfast, hot and cold menu items, snacks and hot chocolate to warm up with.
