7 Bikes for 7 Wonders: Meet the Smith Rocket Creator

Smith Rock State Park – like many of the natural wonders across Oregon – is one to truly explore and experience. It’s not just a park to hop out of the car to snap pictures of. (Although you will, of course, want to make sure your phone has plenty of storage available for all the photos you will take when visiting.)

And cycling the park is one of the unheralded ways to see it. It’s a fun mountain bike ride with amazing views and there’s a route available for folks of just about any skill level.

So when Travel Oregon commissioned Wade Beauchamp of Bend’s Vulture Cycles to create a one-of-a-kind bike to go along with Central Oregon’s one-of-a-kind wonder, he had to come up with one fitting for the terrain.

Beauchamp’s “Smith Rocket” is one of the 7 Bikes for 7 Wonders that will be stashed around the state this summer. Scavenger hunt style, we’ll provide clues as to where you’ll be able to find it (Hint: Smith Rock) and when exactly it’ll be hidden (Hint 2: Plan your trip the week of June 22nd.) If you find it – you keep it. BUT, only if you promise to ride it and ride it a lot!

You can read more about the bike and hear from Beauchamp himself here: The Smith Rocket 7 Wonders Bike
