Our calendar page provides visitors with a comprehensive list of the myriad events that take place all over Central Oregon. The region includes Bend, Sunriver, Sisters, Redmond, La Pine, Prineville, Madras, and Warm Springs, so no matter where you are in the high desert, there is always something for you to do. You may find yourself watching one of today's hottest bands at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in the Old Mill District one minute, and another you will be walking the streets of Downtown Bend, indulging in samples of Central Oregon's famous craft beer and contemporary brewery food, or attending the annual fair & rodeo or one of the hundreds of other events at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds & EXPO Center. If you are traveling from out of town for some of Central Oregon's yearly events, like the Sisters Quilt Show or the Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival, we encourage you to take a look at our many places to stay. Raptors of the Desert Sky

The High Desert Museum invites you to “Raptors of the Desert Sky”.  Raptors take flight overhead in this intimate demonstration.  Experience these powerful predators up close as wildlife specialists showcase the birds’ agility and grace.  This program is a highlight of the Museum’s summer experience.  Hawks, owls, falcons and turkey vultures soar from perch to perch directly over the crowd seated in a natural amphitheater nestled in the Museum’s pine forest.  A Museum expert narrates the action and shares about the hunting strategies and natural behaviors of these spectacular birds of prey.

COBA Tour of Homes

COBA Tour of Homes @ Central Oregon

The COBA Tour of Homes ™ is approximately 40-60 new construction homes built by some of the most prominent builders in Central Oregon. They are able to display their beautiful craftsmanship, landscaping, design while educating the public on the latest building trends and provides a community forum for the housing industry as a whole.

Family Rocketry

Family Rocketry @ Oregon Observatory

Family Rocketry is a summer activity the entire family can enjoy at The Oregon Observatory in Sunriver.  Participants will learn about the basic principles and history of rockets.  They will have time to do some assembly and decorating of their rockets before going out to launch them on site. This class is open to younger rocketeers ages 5 and up.  We also ask every group to have at least one adult present during the class.

The Oregon Observatory invites you to attend a lecture on the Geology of  In this presentation, Dr. Daniele McKay, geologist and Instructor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oregon, will explore recent geologic research that has changed our understanding of central Oregon landscapes.The volcanic landscapes of Central Oregon have been shaped by tectonic forces that are active on a global scale. In Central Oregon, these forces interact to create a geologically diverse region of snow covered volcanic peaks, landscapes created by faults, and some of the largest volcanic eruptions on earth.

Solar System Outing

Solar System Outing @ Oregon Observatory

Journey deep into space at the Oregon Observatory and learn more about our solar system.  The Solar System Odyssey tour will begin as you step inside the new state-of-the-art, inflatable planetarium for an immersive experience. We’ll be transported from Earth to the Sun, Moon, and other planets as we explore space. After the tour, each child will customize their own solar system model to take home. Ages 8-15.

The 31st Annual Children’s Festival invites you to enjoy a day filled with experimenting, creating, playtime and fun!  Kids will enjoy educational experiments, carnival games, creative stations, nature nooks and so much more!   RE/MAX Key Properties Balloons Over Bend, presented by Chevrolet of Bend, is proud to partner with Saving Grace to bring the Children’s Festival back for another year—this year in Riverbend Park!

Wristband purchases include registration for the Balloon Blast Kids Race which takes place at Riverbend Park, starting at 2pm. Bring your wristband to the registration table the day of the race and get your bib.

Intro to Rock Climbing

Learn the basics for rock climbing outside at Smith Rock State Park with Chockstone Climbing Guides, an AMGA accredited guide service. This climbing clinic will be active learning as we practice; basic knots, belaying and climbing technique. Reservations required.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the Moon. The Observatory’s NASA Solar System Ambassadors will offer special presentations followed by telescope viewing of the moon and night sky.

Programs begin at 8pm and are followed by night sky viewing and a laser-guided constellation tour.
