If you are traveling from out of town for some of Central Oregon's yearly events, like the Sisters Quilt Show or the Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival, we encourage you to take a look at our many places to stay. Oregon High Desert Classics are hosted on a beautiful 40-acre ranch in sunny Bend, Oregon. These premier AA hunter/jumper competitions attract top riders from all over the Western United States and Canada.

The High Cascades 100 is the largest single-day endurance mountain bike event on the West Coast. This race begins at the Athletic Club of Bend and wanders through the fantastic scenery of the High Cascades.

The Oregon High Desert Classics is a USEF and USHJA approved Hunter-Jumper horse show taking place the last two weeks of July at the J Bar J Boys Ranch. The Oregon High Desert Classics is the premier fundraiser for J Bar J Youth Services, a nonprofit organization that offers programs specializing in prevention, intervention, treatment and education. Our show attracts over 600 horses and 3,000 professionals and amateur competitors from all over the United States and Canada. Competitors enjoy a USA Equestrian AA-Rated show on one of the few grass footing rings left while spectators enjoy viewing the athletic skill of the horses and riders and a variety of food and shopping at the vendor booths. The best time to see the show is 8:00-am-5:00pm Wednesday– Sunday. The Grand Prix is held each Saturday, July 20th and 27th at 5:00pm (approximately) Mini Prix’s are held each Sunday July 21st and July 28th at 2:00pm (approximately) See Special Events below for further information.
The event is free for spectators; no parking fee. We do have several special events that require tickets. See the special events section below for details.

The Whitewater Kayak Race at Meadow Camp is thrilling for both participants and spectators!! Kayak racers navigate a two and one half mile stretch of beautiful whitewater on the Deschutes River. It takes them approximately 5 minutes!! This race is organized by Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe.
The Kids Balloon Blast is an obstacle course race for kids ages 3-10 with seven to eight fun and exciting obstacles appropriate for all types of children with a wide range of skill levels. We encourage parents and guardians to come and cheer their little athletes on as they enjoy being part of a supportive, healthy and motivational community event.
The Balloon Blast is the 5th race in the Kids Rock the Races Series. All participants will receive a race bib, finishers ribbons and a stamp on their Kids Rock the Races race bib and be eligible for cool prizes.
Play Ball ! Come out to Vince Genna Stadium and support your local Bend Elks Baseball Team. Nothing says “summer” like a hometown baseball game complete with hot dogs, mascot and other fun activities. July 25, 26 & 27 The Elks will host Corvallis. Go ELKS!
Established in 2005 and located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, the premier summer collegiate baseball circuit west of the Mississippi showcases top collegiate baseball players from across North America in 11 markets throughout Washington, Oregon and British Columbia, Canada.
All home games start at 6:35pm, except Sunday games which start at 5:05pm.
Gates open 1 hour before the game starts.
Bend Paddle Trail Alliance invites you to enjoy the Bend Whitewater Festival on June 28th at McKay Park. The day will kick-off with a recreational release in the Fish Ladder/passageway and open surf until 11am. Then, wave events like fan-favorite a Throwing Buckets challenge and the always entertaining King &Queen of the Wave at noon will spill into action-packed head-to-head racing all afternoon. Finally, the whitewater competition will culminate in the Eddy’s Wave Rafting Rampage and the infamous mass start Whitewater Tubing Race with a $100 cash prize for first place to close. Novice to expert, paddlers, surfers and families are encouraged to celebrate and showcase their skills by joining in the 2018 Bend Whitewater Festival, June 24th! This festival is hosted by Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe and the Bend Paddle Trail Alliance and coincides with the nationally supported Subaru Outside Games.
In true hometown throwdown style, judges will be at each water feature, seeking winners in categories including best rider and trick. Spectators will enjoy play-by-play announcement, identifying competitors by bib numbers, and seeing standup paddle boarders, surfers and boogieboarders compete on their respective waves.
“Bend’s third Whitewater Festival will be a reflection of the kayaking and surf culture, a fun and informal expo of the talented water enthusiasts in Central Oregon,” said Geoff Frank, lifelong kayaker and owner of Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe. “Celebrating the river, celebrating the transformation of the dangerous Colorado Spillway into a community asset for novices, families and elite paddlers—that’s what this event is all about.”
“One Hundred Year’s of Fun Since Day One” is the theme of the Deschutes County Fair & Rodeo. This is one of the best fairs in the entire country. Don’t miss the incredible entertainment lineup. The kids will love “familyville” with thrilling carnival rides. The rodeo is an NPRA sanctioned event with world-class cowboy/cowgirl and livestock talent. Enjoy live stage shows throughout the day and headliner concerts at night.

Cascade Lakes Relay is Oregon’s most challenging running relay course. It starts in the Cascade Mountains at Diamond Lake Resort, travels through the Oregon Outback and rural agricultural country, and winds back to the Cascade Lakes Highway, around Mt. Bachelor and into the resort community of Bend. You’ll see more cows than semi-trucks and smell pine trees instead of exhaust.
