If you are traveling from out of town for some of Central Oregon's yearly events, like the Sisters Quilt Show or the Pacific Crest Weekend Sports Festival, we encourage you to take a look at our many places to stay. The Half Day Deschutes River Tour is available every Tuesday and Friday during the summer from 9am to 1pm. Imagine floating on a kayak or canoe through a completely undeveloped, pristine and aqua-blue section of river in the heart of Deschutes National Forest. Paddling among lava flows stretching to Paulina Peak in Newberry Crater National Monument, Aspen groves, tranquil lagoons and side channels. Tumalo Creek’s Half-Day Deschutes River Tour is the perfect mini-adventure for visitors who want to fit in another activity in the afternoon. The Half-Day Deschutes River Kayak Tour is suggested as a relaxing outing for visitors and locals of all ages and skill levels.

Grab a putter after dark and keep the party “glowing’ with one of Sunriver Resort’s most popular programs. Using glowing golf balls, try your luck as you putt away on the 9-hole grass putting course.

We accept walk-up players until 10:15. Check inside the Merchant Trader Gift Shop then head out to the putting course!
Calling all rocketeers! Come to the Oregon Observatory on Thursdays throughout the summer and learn more about the principles of rocketry. You’ll also explore the history of rockets and the future of space exploration. Then, build and launch your own large model rocket. These are the largest rockets allowed to launch at the Oregon Observatory.
Ages 8-15 Registration is required.
Bring the family, pull up a blanket and enjoy live music at The Backyard at Sunriver Resort! A different live band will be featured each concert day. Delicious food and local brews, wine and cocktails will be offered during each concert. The popular local band, Soul’d Out, will be playing on July 18th and Aug 17th. This band plays the BEST old school funk, classic rock and rhythm and blues.
Sunriver Nature Center invites you to celebrate the hatching of Lake Aspen’s newest residents – four fuzzy Trumpeter Swan cygnets! They are hosting a Swan Baby Shower!! Learn more about Trumpeter Swans through guided walks for close up views of the swans, educational stations, and fun activities for the kids including face painting and swan crafts and games. Local author Alice Elshoff will also be reading her recently published children’s book, “How Grace Got Her Name.”
All activities are included in general daytime admission: $7/adult, $5/child (ages 4-12)
Copies of the book “How Grace Got Her Name” will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
Journey deep into space at the Oregon Observatory and learn more about our solar system. The Solar System Odyssey tour will begin as you step inside the new state-of-the-art, inflatable planetarium for an immersive experience. We’ll be transported from Earth to the Sun, Moon, and other planets as we explore space. After the tour, each child will customize their own solar system model to take home. Ages 8-15.
Flash back to the past when Village Bar & Grill presents the 6th annual Sunriver Antique & Classic Car Show in the Village at Sunriver on Saturday, July 20 from 10am – 2pm. Enjoy a summer’s day listening to music while wandering through the Village admiring cars from the 1920’s and 30’s, hot rods, and the muscle cars of the 70’s and 80’s.
