Family Fun Climbing Smith Rock (Video)

“Other than taking pictures of each other, electronics are the furthest things from their mind.”

If you visit Central Oregon, you have to stop by Smith Rock.

It’s known around the world as a top rock climbing destination but it also offers spectacular views that anyone can appreciate.

Since this place is crawling with die-hard climbers — you probably think it’s not a great spot for beginners. But that’s just not true!

Chockstone Climbing Guides in Terrebonne take out lots of families for fun-filled days — no matter what your experience level is.

Parents — a day out here is your ticket to happy kids.

“It just makes you feel like you’re free and do whatever you want and you can have fun,”

And this is fun, that doesn’t require — any — kind of screen.

“Other than taking pictures of each other, electronics are the furthest things from their mind.”

Andy Held’s from just outside of Seattle, and his brother’s family came up from Texas to see Oregon.

He thought a trip to Smith Rock would help get all of them out of “city mode”.

And moments like this — are exactly why Central Oregon isn’t just a place you visit…it’s a place…. you…. experience.

Growing up in Sandpoint, Idaho – Mackenzie spent her summers boating on Lake Pend Oreille and winters snowboarding Schweitzer. Now, it’s hard to get her to leave Bend, even just for the weekend. There are just too many amazing hikes, bike rides and camping spots to take advantage of in Central Oregon to go elsewhere.
