Central Oregon Mountain Bike Trails are BIKE Bible Playground

15 min read

Every January mountain bikers look forward to two things: Warmer weather to ride and the BIKE Magazine Bible of Bike Tests. The annual issue has become one of the most important publications in the industry with comprehensive and brutally honest reviews of the sport’s newest bikes and equipment.

But to get the most out of those new bikes, the testers need a proving ground worthy of the technology – someplace with diverse terrain open to downhill, cross country and all-mountain riding. And only a few places in the world provide all that in the same location.

Central Oregon is one of those places.

For the 2015 Bible of Bike Tests, BIKE Magazine set up shop in Sunriver where a local mechanic helped put together 34 of the best mountain bikes on the planet. For two weeks, 15 staffers put those bikes – and themselves – through the wringer with exhaustive laps on just a fraction of Central Oregon’s 300+ miles of singletrack. The results will be released in January.

But already the magazine has been posting some amazing images and blogs about their experience here.

So here’s a sneak peek into the BIBLE and the process of putting it all together.
