This month's topic for Natural History Pub is:  Dr. Lillian Gilbreath: Mother Of The Modern Kitchen, presented by:  Theresa ONeill.   Dr. Lillian Gilbreth was the first woman elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Best known as the real-life mother of Cheaper by the Dozen, she invented industrial psychology, advanced the occupational opportunities for disabled workers after World War I, and designed the modern-day kitchen, among other groundbreaking achievements.  Therese Oneill, New York Times best-selling author of Unbecoming a Lady, tells the true story of Dr. Gilbreth, one of history's unsung geniuses, with humor and unique insight. Natural History Pub events are open to everyone interested in Pacific Northwest history, and beyond! Often co-sponsored by local or state historical and civic organizations, we bring you experts, scholars, first-person experiencers, historians and documentaries expounding on topics from indigenous history to the birth of Portland, early explorers to hop growing, and on and on! It's like being back in the classroom - except this time you get to settle into comfortable seats and enjoy a drink or two with dinner while you listen and learn.
