Prairie Challenge Dutch Oven Cook-Off

Celebrate half a century of hometown spirit at the Prairie Challenge Dutch Oven Cook-off on Friday, July 3, 2026, during La Pine Frontier Days! This is more than a competition — it’s a living history demonstration of Dutch oven cooking the way our forefathers did it on the prairie!

Teams of 2–3 members will prepare authentic prairie and frontier-style recipes entirely in traditional Dutch ovens. Compete in Main Dish, Side Dish, or Dessert categories (or all three). Dishes must be large enough for judging samples plus 30+ public tasting portions.

Prizes

• 1st Place: $100 per category
• 2nd Place: $50 per category
• 3rd Place: Ribbon
• People’s Choice: $50 per dish category

Special awards will also be given for the most creatively decorated cook site and most authentic recipes.
