Madras Munchies & Movies Series

This August, the Madras Munchies & Movies Series with the Jefferson County Library District/Association, returns to the Jefferson County Event Complex. This series turns movie nights into full‑scale themed celebrations with its annual community series, offering families, fans, and film lovers an experience that goes far beyond the big screen. This award‑winning summer tradition—free for all to attend—returns with three back‑to‑back-to-back themed events on August 13, 20, and 27, each packed with activities, food, entertainment, and partnerships with beloved local organizations.

Guests can expect 541 Bounce activities for kids, local vendors, food trucks, free popcorn, and an impressive assortment of yard games, including safe lawn darts, corn hole, building blocks, giant Connect 4, and giant Yahtzee. With doors opening at 5 pm and movies beginning at approximately 8:30 pm, attendees have plenty of time to explore, play, and enjoy.

August 13: “The Sandlot” with Jefferson County Little League
The series opens with a heartfelt partnership supporting Jefferson County Little League. In addition to screening the iconic summer classic “The Sandlot,” this event serves as a scholarship fundraiser helping underprivileged youth join Little League. Last year’s whiffle ball home run derby was a huge “hit” and it’s back again with prizes and trophies for participants. The evening also features a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, and a special presentation recognizing the Jefferson County Little League Senior Softball Team. It’s the perfect blend of nostalgia, community pride, and fun competition.

August 20: “Back to the Future” with the Elks
The second week blasts off with time‑travel excitement as the Elks host their major annual community engagement event. Fans will have the rare chance to climb inside a replica of Marty McFly’s famous DeLorean for photos, and rumor has it that “Doc Brown” himself may make a comedic appearance. The Elks are turning the Event Complex into a retro party celebrating the total awesomeness of the 80’s, including an 80s-themed costume contest! The partnership with the Elks brings additional activities, energy, and opportunities for families to connect while celebrating one of cinema’s most beloved adventures.

August 27: 40th Anniversary Celebration of “Top Gun”
The series closes with high‑flying action during the 40th anniversary screening of “Top Gun,” presented in collaboration with the Air Show of the Cascades. Attendees will have the chance to meet real pilots during a special meet‑and‑greet and learn firsthand what it’s like to fly jets. This unique partnership blends aviation, education, and entertainment, giving moviegoers an unforgettable look behind the scenes of high‑speed flight, with opportunities to win FREE tickets to the Air Show of the Cascades on August 28 & 29.
