Just 20 miles Northeast of Bend, you’ll discover the 1800-acre property of Brasada Ranch. Once a working sheep ranch, the luxury retreat now hosts a variety of lodging options and activities across all seasons. And while you can certainly book a kid-friendly stay at Brasada, it’s also the ideal destination for an adult-only escape to experience and soak in the views of Central Oregon.
Here’s where to stay, what to do, and where to eat and drink to make the most out of your getaway.
Stay in a Cascade Bungalow
Nothing beats waking up to the scent of sagebrush on a refreshing, brisk morning in the high desert. And while Central Oregon is known for its sunsets, the hues of pink and blue that dance across the sky at sunrise are equally beautiful.
Across Brasada’s expansive property, you can choose to stay the night in a room in the Ranch House or one of the standalone Sage Canyon Cabins. But, if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing time and a true adults-only experience, the Cascade Bungalows will be your best bet.
The collection of contemporary cabin-style rooms is located right next to the adults-only pool, with unobstructed views of the Cascade mountain range. Each sun-soaked, spacious bungalow is outfitted with modern, cozy furnishings along with a gas fireplace, a large living room seating area, and a reading nook by the window.
A large bathroom with heated floors leads out to a private enclosed patio complete with a hot tub and outdoor shower. A floor-to-ceiling folding door provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sunrise from the comfort of your plush king bed. In the evening, let the outdoors in by opening the folding door, which leads out to a small patio. Grab a glass of wine, local craft beer, or a convenient canned cocktail from the fridge and watch as golden light fills the sky, showing off what’s sure to be one of the best sunsets you’ve ever seen. The rooms are incredibly peaceful and quiet, with touches in mind to anticipate every need.
Each room also comes with exclusive use of a ranch rover golf cart to drive around the property, along with breakfast delivered to your room each morning to fuel up for the day. Bringing your furry best friend along as well? The Cascade Bungalows are pet-friendly.
Go for a Hike
While you could easily spend the day curled up in your private bungalow, Brasada offers access to some of the best views of Central Oregon, if you’re willing to hike up to them. Take a short hike up to Spirit Rock for a 360-degree view of the Cascade Mountains. Looking for a bit more time on the trail? Discover one of the other trails on the edge of the resort’s property and explore Outback Butte, or grab your hiking boots, hop in the car, and head to Smith Rock State Park just 22 miles to the North and tackle Misery Ridge for a steep hike with a major pay-off. Not up for a full hike? A walk around the property will still provide plenty of scenic views. Golden hour on the property’s historic wooden trestle bridge, an old irrigation trestle, is nothing short of magical.
Try Horseback Riding
Whether you’re a seasoned rider or completely new to being around horses, the Brasada Trails program is a can’t-miss activity during a getaway. Knowledgeable, attentive staff will make you feel comfortable and help you saddle up for an unforgettable experience. Group trail rides are kept small as you embark on a scenic trail ride through sagebrush and juniper trees.

Grab a Bite
If you’re hungry for a midday snack, head to Brasada’s on-site general store. Nothing beats enjoying an ice cream sandwich in an Adirondack chair on the sunny porch. After a full day of taking in Central Oregon views, it’s time to enjoy dinner. While the Ranch House offers a casual atmosphere, a small bites menu, great appetizers and snacks, and a full dinner menu, it’s the Range Restaurant & Bar that can’t be missed. Grab a seat and take in panoramic mountain views while watching the glow of the large fire pit just outside off the patio. Treat yourself to an incredible farm-to-table meal highlighting seasonal ingredients. Finish off the meal outside by the fire and roast a marshmallow just how you like it to build the ultimate s’more.
Other Things to Do at Brasada
Given its sprawling property, Brasada offers a long list of activities to experience new things or to fulfill a favorite hobby. Grab tennis or pickleball rackets for some lighthearted competition, or book a tee time on the golf course. Try a yoga or strength training class at the Athletic Center or reserve a regular or e-bike to explore the property on two wheels. Prefer to completely relax? Head to the spa for a treatment before making your way back to your private hot tub for an afternoon soak.
