Scalehouse presents Liminal, an exhibition by Peruvian artist Gonzalo Benavente exploring the connections between cultural heritage, identity, migration, and technology. Born in Cusco, Peru, Benavente brings together pre-Columbian symbolism, folded paper, cardboard sculpture, interactive installations, and digital technologies to connect ancestral traditions with contemporary forms of artistic expression.
The exhibition explores the spaces between what we inherit and what we transform, what feels familiar and what feels foreign, and how our sense of belonging changes over time. Through sculpture and digital processes, Benavente reimagines memory, explores evolving identities, and creates new connections between past and present.
Benavente is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts of Peru, founder of Orilab, a laboratory dedicated to paper folding and paper art, and author of Sculptural Origami.
