Modern Biology has brought 'plant music' to the masses. Originally educated as a biologist, veteran musician Tarun Nayar brings his passion for nature and sound together in a project that is organismic, immediate, uplifting, and deeply contextual.

His work has been viewed over 200 million times and amassed him over 950K followers on TikTok (@modernbiology), has been featured by the BBC, LA Times, Vice, and The Guardian. Recent appearances include The Nobel Prize Museum (Stockholm), The New York Botanical Garden, the Salk Institute (San Diego) and Wonderfruit Festival (Thailand). In August of 2025, in collaboration with Instruō Synthesizers in Scotland, he launched the Pocket Scíon, an affordable biosonification device that encourages citizen  science and art projects.
