Song of Sunset: Underground is an immersive evening of independent film, live music, storytelling, and Pacific Northwest culture.
This year’s production explores the idea of the “underground” through hidden histories, independent creative spaces, cultural traditions, and the artists and storytellers working to keep them alive.
Rather than a traditional film screening or concert, Song of Sunset unfolds as a sequenced live experience, moving between original documentary films, live performances, and conversations presented by Oregon Film.
Song of Sunset: In My Day
Award winning short documentary introducing the audience to Bend's small stage culture.
Cosmic Heirloom: Buried 400 Years
An award-nominated short documentary exploring the forgotten history of psilocybin—from ancient cultural traditions and colonial suppression to rediscovery and its modern resurgence.
Salvaged Reverb: Inside the Legendary Robert Lang Studios
Step inside one of the Pacific Northwest’s most remarkable recording spaces. Built by hand over decades using salvaged materials, Robert Lang Studios has hosted artists including Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Death Cab for Cutie, Peter Frampton, and many others.
A special documentary featuring Warm Springs artist Sho Rilla
An intimate look at music, Native identity, recovery, sobriety, and the power of using art to reach people.
The evening will feature a songwriter performance from Joe Estrada of Six Eyed Cat, followed by Ghost of Brian Craig later in the program, and a closing performance from Warm Springs hip-hop artist Sho Rilla.
Two live discussion panels presented by Oregon Film will bring filmmakers, artists, and guests together to continue the conversations sparked on screen.
Five percent of proceeds from the Bend event will benefit HÚE (Hearts Unknown Education).
Song of Sunset: Underground is for music lovers, film enthusiasts, artists, curious travelers, and anyone who believes the places where people gather to create still matter.
