About Sunriver

Sunriver, about 15 miles south of Bend, is a quaint resort town where snow-capped Mt. Bachelor gleams in the distance and the meandering Deschutes River cuts through picturesque fields of sagebrush and wild grass. This resort community is not only one of the original Central Oregon destination resorts, but it also has a rich history.

The land was once part of Camp Abbot, a World War II-era military training post. The Great Hall, a beautiful original Camp Abbot building that once served as the officers’ mess hall, now hosts weddings and other events.

Today, Sunriver serves as an ideal vacation spot. A day might begin with a bike ride along more than 40 miles of paved paths, perhaps stopping for fresh coffee and pastries at a local cafe, and end with a cocktail or locally brewed beer. In between, outdoor adventures like golfing, hiking, kayaking, and swimming are all within easy reach.
