DON'T MISS THE ECLIPSE!

Total Solar Eclipse in 2017

The first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in America since 1918 will pass directly through Central Oregon approximately 10:19am on August 21, 2017. Most of the U.S. will be able to partially see the eclipse, but to experience total darkness you must be within a 67-mile band of shadow, known as “The Path of Totality.”

The Central Oregon towns of Sisters, Redmond, and Prineville are within that band while Madras, dubbed “Solar City, Oregon” is located directly on the center line of totality. What’s more, Madras’ elevation (2,241 feet) and climate (warm, sunny skies) make it an ideal location for seeing the eclipse.
