Central Oregon is a dog owner’s paradise, and Redmond is no exception. Around the city, you’ll find a thoughtfully designed dog park at the end of a hiking and biking trail (showing that our regional affinity of the outdoors is matched only by a love for our four-legged friends), another dog park that serves regional craft beer to human companions and spacious restaurants with plenty of outdoor seating for tired dogs after an exciting day outside.

You’ll find pup-friendly offerings on seemingly every block, but a few spots stand out around Redmond:

So as you make plans to visit with your whole family, here’s a look at the best dog parks and dog-friendly restaurants in Redmond, Oregon—along with what makes each so special, what you’ll find at each spot and where to get more information.

Weigand Family Off-Leash Dog Park in Dry Canyon

Let Fido run free at Weigand Family Dog Park, a grassy green space just west of downtown Redmond.

The fenced-in dog park in Redmond, Oregon, has separate off-leash play areas for small and large dogs, with wading pools and a water fountain to keep them cool. A few chairs invite dog owners to relax, while a handful of trees and small structures provide shade on warm afternoons.

Weigand Family Dog Park also sits at the southern terminus of the Dry Canyon Trail, a gently sloping path that totals about 3.5 miles (round-trip) while running parallel to a rocky gorge in the heart of Redmond. Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail if your pooch needs a bit more exercise after running free in the park.

Whether you’re hitting the trail or letting your dog run free, learn all about the fun things to do when visiting Redmond, Oregon. And if you’re getting hungry, check out our round-up of the best restaurants in Redmond.

The Doghouse Brewyard

Leave it up to a Central Oregon entrepreneur to update the tried-and-true dog park concept for a new generation of dog owners. The Doghouse Brewyard opened in 2023 and—in addition to a fenced-in, off-leash play area—the Redmond, Oregon, dog park hosts a rotating lineup of food trucks and an on-site bar that pours regional craft beers, ciders, nitro coffee and other non-alcohol drinks; community events and occasional performances round out the fun. Taken together, it’s less of a dog park than a social club for furry friends (and their family members) from all walks of life.

Note that the Doghouse Brewyard is open on a membership basis; day passes are available for $5, as are monthly memberships (which run $25 for the first dog and $10 per additional dog) and annual memberships (which cost $225 for the first dog and $49 per additional dog). All dogs must be spayed or neutered and current on all vaccinations.

Over the years, the brewery’s lineup of well-balanced ales and lagers has earned it plenty of acclaim—and those beers never taste better than on the pub’s dog-friendly patio.

The semi-shaded patio at Cascade Lakes offers plenty of room for pooches to relax after a day outdoors—and typically includes a handful of water bowls to keep them hydrated. Other highlights at the pub’s outdoor seating area include umbrellas for shade, fire pits and horseshoe pits.

At the edge of the downtown Redmond core, One Street Down Cafe is a local’s hangout—beloved for its all-day breakfasts, scratch-made dishes crafted with local ingredients and a spacious, shady patio that just so happens to be dog-friendly.

Whether you’re fueling up for the day’s adventures or easing into the day, you’ll find plenty to love about the down-home menu of breakfast classics—including massive cinnamon rolls, eggs Benedict and hearty portions of biscuits slathered in house-made spicy gravy. Two large, leafy trees cover the front yard dining space, keeping it cool at all times and providing a space where your pups can relax in comfort.
