Discover Juniper Preserve

As soon as you arrive at Juniper Preserve, it’s clear the retreat was designed to connect visitors with all of what makes Central Oregon so special. Ancient juniper trees (some up to 1,000 years old) surround the resort, adding a touch of history and natural beauty to the lavish space. A pair of golf courses incorporate the region’s famous lava flows and topography into their designs. And each room is thoughtfully designed with stone, wood, and a distinct color palette (including soft browns and greens) to reflect the high desert that surrounds Juniper Preserve.

Those flourishes hint at an attention to detail that pervades the resort’s many offerings—from locally sourced ingredients at Juniper Preserve’s five restaurants to outdoor spaces designed to showcase breathtaking views of the nearby Cascade mountains.

And if you’re looking to explore the wider region, you’re never far from the fun: Discover Bend, Oregon, for some of the area’s best craft breweries, most exciting restaurants, and no shortage of outdoor activities. Elsewhere, make time to visit Redmond, Oregon, home to a charming downtown core, growing culinary and craft libation scene, and a wide range of outdoor offerings. Both cities are just a half-hour away, making it easy to enjoy all of what Central Oregon has to offer.

Whether using the resort as a home base for exploring nearby communities or taking advantage of its many offerings, here’s a look at what makes Juniper Preserve one of the most storied resorts in Central Oregon.

World Class Golf in Central Oregon

In a region known for its outstanding golf courses, Juniper Preserve more than holds its own with a pair of expertly designed, world-class courses that take full advantage of the surroundings to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is an 18-hole course (par 72) that was designed by the golfing legend himself. The 7,379-yard public course appeals to golfers of all skill levels and sits surrounded by lava rock ridges, craggy formations, and juniper forests—with views of Cascade peaks rising above it all.

The 18-hole Tom Fazio Championship Course, meanwhile, challenges golfers of all skill levels with a variety of obstacles and terrain. Rolling fairways, sculpted greens, beautiful water features, and ancient lava rocks are all some of the course’s most notable features—but its eighth hole offers an especially vexing problem to solve: the par-3 hole includes a 45-foot canyon and an exposed lava tube.

Looking to improve your game before hitting the links? The Pronghorn Academy, led by a seasoned golf coach, Jeff Ritter, offers a variety of programs—from private lessons to half-day sessions and beyond—to help golfers sharpen their skills, all from the comfort of the academy’s indoor-outdoor learning center. And if you’d like to pair your Juniper Preserve experience with other offerings around the region, learn more about golf in Central Oregon.

Perhaps the resort’s signature stay, the 65 room Juniper Lodge finds inspiration in its high-desert surroundings with private terraces, evocative decor, and expansive views of the Cascade mountains. Luxury amenities include in-room fireplaces, tasteful furnishings, and an oversize outdoor fire pit on the patio (perfect for group hangs). And that’s to say nothing of the lodge’s pool—the perfect place to cool off after a busy day outdoors. Nine of the lodge’s rooms are wheelchair-accessible, with other touches to ensure an enjoyable outing for all. Planning an extended trip or large group outing? Consider a stay in Juniper Preserve’s vacation rentals or vacation homes—or the resort’s penthouse suites, which sleep up to six and come with a full kitchen (including a massive island), two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a private terrace, and more.

The resort’s vacation rentals range from two-bedroom residences to four-bedroom homes—each boasting close proximity to the resort’s attractions, high-end wood and leather furnishings, full kitchens with well-appointed appliances, flat-screen televisions, gas fireplaces, private patios, and (for those cool Central Oregon evenings) on-site fire pits.

Additional Juniper Preserve Offerings

Juniper Preserve is understandably famous for its world-class golf courses and impeccably designed lodging. But there’s plenty more to love about the resort. Here are a few ideas.

Restaurants at Juniper Preserve: You could spend a week at Juniper Preserve and still only scratch the surface of its culinary offerings, which comprise five on-site eateries. Highlights include family-friendly pub fare (such as burgers, salads, and pizzas) at The Trailhead, handcrafted cocktails and tapas-like dishes at The Coyote and fresh sandwiches and other on-the-go items at Grill on the Green. The resort even offers some of the region’s best outdoor dining, thanks in part to wide-open Cascade mountain views.

Outdoor activities: You don’t need to go far to enjoy a dose of the Central Oregon outdoors. Around the resort alone, visitors can swim in the resort’s pools; play pickleball, or basketball at on-site courts; rent bikes and take a spin on the resort’s cycling paths while away an afternoon with lawn games; or even take fitness or yoga classes at Juniper Preserve’s fitness center.

Weddings at Juniper Preserve: It’s never been easier to plan the biggest (and best) day of your life. Juniper Preserve Resort is home to indoor and outdoor event settings, from Event Island (a 7,000-square-foot private island offering some of Central Oregon’s most storybook views) to Chanterelle (which offers a castle-like setting with rock flourishes, lantern-like lighting, and exposed wood). Parties can even book an ancient lava cave for small and large groups alike. The Juniper Preserve staff, meanwhile, is happy to assist with a variety of services to make your big day truly special.
