Everyone knows everything tastes better when it’s cooked in a Dutch Oven.   Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe hosts its annual Dutch Oven Cooking Clinic on Wednesday, January 29 from 5-7:30 p.m. You’ll learn the ins and outs of Dutch Oven cooking from the experts AND sample some of their favorite Dutch Oven dishes like pineapple upside-down cake, apple pie, chicken and dumplings, eggplant Parmesan, roasted veggies and Owyhee bacon-loaded cornbread.

Since the pioneer days, American explorers have been using Dutch Ovens (Dos) to create delicious dinners on their way down the river or the trails. Today, Dutch Oven cooking is considered an art form among the most dedicated outdoors people. There is nothing like the feeling of sharing a satisfying meal with your fellow travelers that you created and that everyone loves.

Tumalo Creek looks to bring the community together by participating in a light-hearted and fun activity around the fire. That’s one of the most amazing parts of cooking with a Dutch Oven. Every time you use one camping or by the river you are creating a culture around your cooking. It’s the space where you have some laughs with the company around you and you commune with the outdoors.

This event fills up quickly so please book your tickets in advance. Help us help others by bringing one or more non perishable food item to support the Bend Food Project.
