Hearing is believing! Audiences in Redmond, OR will get the chance to hear the Portland Youth Philharmonic when the orchestra visits on a tour prior to their historic 95th season. PYP will perform a free concert in Redmond’s Ridgeview High School.  Experience live symphonic music like never before, performed by the orchestra the Chicago Tribune calls “brilliant in all departments!”

This performance at Ridgeview High School is FREE and all are welcome. Young musicians are especially encouraged to attend.

The orchestra will be performing William Grant Still’s – The American Scene:  The Far West.  Written in 1957, by “the Dean of African-American composers,” The Far West evokes the age-old cultures and natural beauty of America’s West Coast.  Still, who was of Spanish, Native American, Irish, Scottish, and African-American ancestry, envisioned a proudly multicultural America, as harmonious in race and ethnic relations as his music.  In addition to Still, the orchestra will perform works by Dvorak and Tchaikovsky.
