Sunriver is considered one of the top ten birding hotspots in Deschutes County. Especially during autumn migration, you can find many beautiful and interesting birds around our grounds and waterways.

If you are interested in spotting and learning more about these birds, consider joining us on Saturdays at 9:30 AM as one of our Nature Center birding volunteers takes you on an hour-long walk around the Resort area.

This walk is suitable for families and people without any birding experience, but skilled birders are welcome to help us find rarities or just deepen your knowledge of our local species.

Note that our autumn mornings can be chilly and the paths can be icy, so wear warm layers and shoes with good traction. We recommend hats and gloves, especially for kids. Binoculars will be provided. Please meet in the Backyard of the lodge by the fire pit. The walk will begin promptly at 9:30 AM. First come, first served. The walk can accommodate up to 10 people total.
