The Three Sisters Viewpoint is exactly what it sounds like: a roadside pullout, on either side of Highway 20, where drivers can bask in unimpeded views of the Three Sisters mountains—colloquially known as Faith, Hope, and Charity. (You’ll also see Broken Top to the left—or south—of the viewpoint’s namesake peaks.)
But what the viewpoint lacks in size, it makes up for with stellar views that rank among the best anywhere in Central Oregon. You don’t need a fancy camera to capture the majesty of the mountains as they rise above forests of pine and a sweeping meadow of sagebrush before you.
Between fall and spring, the mountaintops are coated in snow, and late-afternoon sunset views bathe the scene in soft hues of pink and purple. By summer, the mountains shine under blue skies all day long. Learn more about the mountains—as well as the military members, explorers, and even a lone botanist who enjoyed the same view—from an on-site interpretive panel.
Finally, note that the Three Sisters Viewpoint is technically two parking areas—one on each side of Highway 20. The two parking areas are just down the highway from each other and don’t offer appreciably different views, so don’t cross the highway for a better photo; rather, stop at the one that’s easiest and most convenient for whichever direction you’re traveling in.
