Central Oregon is home to two of Oregon’s best ski resorts, Mt. Bachelor and Hoodoo.
Mt. Bachelor offers 360 degrees of lift-served skiing from its volcanic summit of 9,100 feet. With the new Cloudchaser chairlift that opened in 2016, Mt. Bachelor added more than 600 acres of terrain, making it the 5th largest ski area in the country.
Once the snow arrives in November, you can ski it, board it, telemark it, tube it, skate it, throw it, sled dog it, skijor it, even build a cozy shelter out of it–all the way through May. Winter recreation is not the only draw here; in summer you can hike to the summit, or try the new downhill mountain bike park. Whether you seek adventure, family fun or an experience to remember, Mt. Bachelor offers an opportunity for everyone to enjoy.
Hoodoo, just 10 minutes from Black Butte Ranch, is Central Oregon’s original ski area. It’s your neighborhood ski resort turned up a notch with night skiing and family-friendly charm. This family-friendly ski area is convenient to both sides of the Cascade Range and features more than 800 acres of terrain, 32 runs, five lifts, miles of cross country and snowshoe trails and The Autobahn, one of the largest tubing parks in the West. The ski area also offers half-hour lessons teaching the basics of snow biking, an extreme sport in which participants ride small bikes with seats, handlebars and small skis instead of wheels.
