Blue Duck LLC DBA East Lake Resort

WELCOME TO EAST LAKE RESORT – “The Unique Oregon Experience” In 1915, East Lake Resort opened its doors on the shores of East Lake in the caldera of Newberry Volcano – the largest volcano in the Cascade Range. Rebuilt in 1942, our current resort is a full service facility 45 miles southeast of Bend, Oregon. Our remoteness gives you the chance to unplug and unwind in the heart of one of Central Oregon’s most scenic regions. Classic cabins, tent sites, RV sites and watercraft (from paddle boards to pontoons and fishing boats) are available for rent. Randy, our experienced central Oregon fishing expert will be available for guided fishing trips on East Lake throughout the 2020 season. The Blue Duck Grill provides a relaxing atmosphere for a pub style meal. The on-site general store and tackle shop will take care of your last minute camping and fishing needs. The gift shop gives guests an opportunity to shop for a unique gift or clothing item. The 1050 acre lake, at 6,400 feet altitude, is known as one of the finest lake fisheries in Oregon as featured in BestFishingInAmerica.com. Brown Trout, Kokanee, and Rainbow Trout are available for harvest throughout the season. For an up to date fishing report look to our friends at Fly and Field in Bend. Grant McOmie’s “Travel Oregon” and Brian Jennings “Great Outdoors” travel shows have featured the history, scenery and fishing of the Newberry Caldera and East Lake. Before you visit East Lake Resort please remember that the resort is located in the beautiful caldera of the Newberry Volcanic Monument. There is very limited cell services and no access to wifi. Our communication with civilization is limited to a 1940’s landline phone service. Bruce Bronson has owned the resort since March 2014. Bruce’s longtime business partner, Rob has retired to Arizona, but no worries as he will be making appearances at the resort throughout the season. The 2020 season will be managed by Chris and Anna Bronson. We welcome you to spend a few hours or a few days enjoying the unique Oregon experience. East lake resort is located off Hwy 97 in Central Oregon, 22 miles south of Bend. Turn east on East Lake – Paulina Lake Road (County Road 21). Drive 18 paved miles to East Lake Resort.

Gelato displays for sale by Bontà Natural Artisan Gelato

Bontà Natural Artisan Gelato

Bontà Gelato located in downtown Bend, Oregon is the perfect sweet treat. Bonta is Inspired and enlivened by a one year trip around the world, Jeff and Juli Labhart returned with a want to capture the flavors from the street stalls of Thailand, the spice fields of Zanzibar, the mountains of India, and other exotic locales into the creamy fresh goodness of gelato. Every small batch of Bontà Gelato is hand-crafted using only the best ingredients with many coming from the Oregon countryside. For it was their travels that made them realize that many of the world’s best ice cream ingredients can be found right here at home, also. Try Tumalo Lavender & Honey, or Thump Espresso, or taste the numerous flavors inspired by local community growers. For our dairy-free friends, try a Sorbetto, inspired by seasonal flavors like Oregon Blackberry Sorbetto, Vegan Spiced Latte or Chocolate Coconut, just to name a few. Jeff grew up in the dairy community of Tillamook, Oregon and at a young age understood that the reason the milk and cream tasted so good here in the Northwest was all of the tall, green grass the cows munched on all year long. Juli was raised in the berry community of Lynden, Washington, where in her younger years, she worked the berry fields. She still wonders why she was never fired, because it seemed more berries went into her mouth than the bucket. Upon their return from their travels, they trained under two different Italian gelato masters. From their studies they developed their own homemade ice cream recipes and the result is a denser, flavorful ice cream with less fat than traditional American ice cream. It was from this inspiration and the want to support local growers, the community, and the environment that Bontà gelato was born.
